Just an update with info on the proposed trails in New York’s Moose River Plains Wild Forest in the Adirondacks.  Cycle-CNY and IMBA did submit comments, and we’re looking forward to the next draft document review for this system.

Overview:  The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYDEC) is seeking public comments on an amendment to the Moose River Unit Management Plan for mountain bike trails. The Moose River Plains Wild Forest is located in the towns of Webb and Ohio in Herkimer County, and the Towns of Arietta, Inlet, Long Lake, Lake Pleasant and Morehouse in Hamilton County.

IMBA Trail Solutions has provided an ambitious and detailed plan for up to 100 miles of mountain biking trails in the Moose River Plains Wild Forest. The recommended phasing in of the plan allows for smaller steps that may serve as a learning process surrounding communities and agencies. This unique landscape provides a variety of terrain and geology that is suitable for a stacked-loop trail system, providing trail experiences for beginning riders and advanced riders.
